South Gloucestershire Council and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group is currently consulting on its new Dementia Strategy and would like to hear the views of residents and stakeholders to ensure we get the balance of the strategy right.

How technology can be used to support people with dementia

Technology can be used to support people with dementia and their carers in many different ways. For example, the following technological aids are available:
· Buddy - a compact, waterproof and attractive looking wristband which offers: manual emergency alerts, automatic fall alerts, lifestyle monitoring and online monitoring.
·
Ode - a fragrance-release system designed to stimulate appetite among people with dementia.
·
GPS shoe soles - invisible and allows you to track the person using GPS technology.
· Medical records tag - allows you to store your medical records on you and make them accessible to medical staff in time of emergency.
